Parents, we understand that those of you who reside on streets and roadways that have yet to be cleared of snow and ice may not be able to get your children to school today or even over the next few days. However, we have an obligation to open schools when a majority of our students can safely get to and from our schools. We are at this point. Please work with your school to keep them informed of your situation. I have advised all schools to work with parents and students in these situations.
This goes without saying, but if it is unsafe for a bus to travel down your road, please do not send your students of driving age down the same roads. If unsafe to go to school, please do not attempt the trip. Once the roads are safe, we will resume as many bus routes as possible, as quickly as possible.

Information to make drop-off and pick-up more efficient for everyone:
DROP-OFF TIME ON DAYS WITH A 2-HOUR DELAY IS 9:15 - 9:50. The drop-off zone is considered the entire length of the front office parking lot. In order to move the line more quickly, please let your child out as soon as cars stop within that area. Your child should then go over to the sidewalk and walk the rest of the way to the cafeteria door. (Unloading 5-7 vehicles at a time will move the line much quicker than every car waiting to unload at the front of the line.)
PICK-UP TIME IS 3:05 UNTIL 3:30 PM. Our pickup system works best when cars drive in on Pine Street from the back of the school. This helps omit the jam as cars and buses exit. To make pickup more efficient, please remember the following:
1) You must drop your pickup card in the mailbox as you enter the driveway. If you do not have a pickup number, you must drive into the office parking lot and enter the building for pickup.
2) Once you drop off your number in the mailbox, please park in the pickup lot only. Cars in the middle area should pull through spaces and all park facing Church Hill Middle School. Cars around the perimeter should back in to spaces. This allows a smooth and safe traffic flow when we release.
3) No traffic should move until the bus patrol teacher waves for you to do so. It is essential that all students have gotten to their vehicle safely before traffic moves.
4) We normally fill our pickup area and release it in 3 waves, finishing by 3:20. If you are new to pickup, you may want to wait until 3:15 or later to avoid the early rush.
With many buses not running, pickup will take a bit longer and there may be new drivers learning the procedures. We encourage everyone to be patient and help others as they learn. We are excited to see all of you today!

Baseball and softball tryouts for current 6th graders will be held beginning Jan 26th in the Church Hill Middle School gym. Coaches will check physicals. You must attend to be eligible for tryouts. Have a ride ready to pick you up by 3:30 and a note on file in the office giving you permission to walk to CHMS.
