Thank you to the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Department, a suspect has been charged relating to recent Snapchat posts threatening disruption to our school operations and/or student and staff harm at Cherokee High School. At this point, this threat has been effectively dealt with and school will operate as normally planned. Thank you for those who shared the posts with staff, for those who shared information, and for those who continually monitor social media for such threats.
Progress reports went out today. Next Thursday (9/14) is parent/teacher conference day.
It's that time of year again! The Book Fair is coming to Church Hill Intermediate September 18-23, 2023. Students will be able to visit the Book Fair during Related Arts time. This is a cash only event, no checks please.
Bus #93 will not be running the AM & PM routes Thursday September 7th and Friday September 8th. All students must be car riders to and from school on theses days.
Wrestling practice is cancelled for today, 9/5/23. The first wrestling practice will be Thursday, 9/7/23.
This is a reminder for families to apply for free or reduced-price lunch benefits for the 2023-24 school year!
If you have a student who had free or reduced benefits last year, you must apply for benefits for this school year. This includes students who attended a CEP school last year but are enrolled in a non-CEP school this year. Applications are available online and at your student’s school office.
Any student who had free or reduced benefits last school year and has not yet applied for benefits this school year, will move to a paid status on 9/20/23. Any meal charges accrued because of the change in meal status will be the responsibility of the family.
If you have questions about your student’s meal status, please contact the Child Nutrition Office at 423-272-2128.

Don't forget! Tomorrow is the House Field Trip Day! Students will be spending the day at the park! Students will arrive back at CHIS by 2:30pm. Wear House colors or house shirt! Bring a towel to sit on and some sunscreen! We are excited and looking to have a great time tomorrow!!
CHIS is excited to be participating in the Church Hill Homecoming Parade!
When: August 31, 2023
Time: Parade will be at 6:00, meet at 5:30
Where: Parents will bring students to the empty area at the red light near Red Door Antiques. Please find a teacher to check in with.
What to Wear: Students need comfortable shoes to walk in and wear a School HOUSE Shirt or color. We will have a float but not all students will be able to ride so please prepare them for the possibility of walking in the parade.
Pick-Up: Students need to be picked up at the end of the parade at the Church Hill Library area. The parade will be over at approximately 6:30.
*A guardian must sign them out with a staff member.

Due to continued rain, standing water in roads, and more rain in the forecast for early this afternoon, Hawkins County Schools will be closed today August 10. Current road reports are already showing signs of standing water and flooding situations.
Hawkins County Schools will be on a 2 hour delay tomorrow August 10th, due to risk of possible flooding.
