Important Announcement About School Opening on 9/08

CHIS

Important announcement!

All Hawkins County K-8 students will return to school in person on Tuesday, September 8.  (No school on Monday for Labor Day!)

Bus riders will come 8-11 AM.

Car riders will come 12-3 PM.
Please do not enter the school parking lot before 11:40 to avoid traffic issues.

Students will receive direct instruction from their math and ELA teachers, as well as intervention as needed.

All students will be expected to continue daily online learning at home each day by completing math and ELA assignments, doing online science and social studies classes and assignments, and completing related arts classes each day.  Assignments will be due by the following Monday, but should be completed daily if possible.

ELearners will continue to get instruction daily on Google Classrooms. However, the log in times for live meets may change.  Recorded lessons of classes will be posted daily from live classes rather than prerecorded.  Therefore, recorded classes may be downloaded later each day.

We appreciate everyone's patience as these will be very fast-paced days for teachers and staff to learn new procedures, teach live and online, and practice safe new protocols and cleaning procedures to keep everyone safe.  And the traffic... Well.. It's always fun as our incoming 5th grade parents learn the ropes!

We will also be serving all students free breakfast (AM) AND free lunches (both AM and PM).

Please begin talking to your child about social distancing and the importance of hand washing, as both will be practiced.  Mask will be recommended, and all students will be provided a mask if they do not have one.

Students need to bring their CHARGED chromebooks back and forth each day, as well as all school books and supplies.  If any student needs a backpack or school supplies, we can provide them from a generous donation from Ridgeview Baptist Church. Lockers will not be issued until we return to school full time.

K-8 schools will continue this schedule Mondays-Thursdays through September 18.  Friday's are still online learning days in which all students should log in to Google Classrooms and complete recorded lessons and/or make up any previous assignments.

Our teachers are trying to communicate with each family personally to answer any questions you may have.  Again, thank you in advance for your patience as we will do our best to serve the students and families of our community.
