A total solar eclipse will pass over the entire contiguous United States, an event that has not taken place since 1918, on August 21, 2017. The last time any portion of the contiguous United States was in the direct path of a solar eclipse was 1979, where only portions of the northwest were covered. In an effort to promote shared educational opportunities between you and your child, as well as, avoiding potential safety concerns involved with dismissal of school during the eclipse, we will be dismissing school on this day at 11:15 a.m.

Please review the safety guidelines, in addition to your own research, to ensure everyone’s safety during this event.
