What To Expect The First Day Of School

The school will open at 7:15, and the tardy bell rings at 8:00. It is a good idea to have your student at school by 7:50 so they will have time to prepare for their day.
Students will walk up the sidewalk and enter at the cafeteria. Everyone is invited to share in a free breakfast. Students will be escorted to the gym and picked up by homeroom teachers.
Students will then rotate through their 3 classrooms and go over very important information. Handbooks and other materials will be sent home, and it is VERY IMPORTANT that parents return emergency cards and other forms immediately the next day. School will be dismissed at 11:30 AM.
If a parent is picking up that first day and does not have a car number, please feel free to come in around 8:30 to get a pickup number at the front office. If you have children at other schools, you might want to pick them up first, as our traffic learns how to proceed. Please listen to teachers on duty to learn the routines. What may take 30 minutes the first week will soon dissolve to around 15 in the weeks to come. Students are always kept safely in the 5th grade hallway until someone picks them up, so your patience is appreciated as they learn the routines as well.
Students should also note the bus number that picks them up. We will have a list of bus numbers and routes to help out the first day. If there are questions, you may contact the bus shop. We look forward to seeing you Monday, August 7!
